Rosh Chodesh celebrates the new month, and is the holiday
given to women as a reward for not giving their jewelry for
the building of the Golden Calf. Women also have many ties
to the moon and its monthly cycle. Traditionally, women
have been instructed not to work on this day each month,
but to celebrate. In recognition of this tradition, Chai
Sisterhood has created a special gathering each month for
women to get together, observe this day, and discuss the
special joys and difficulties of being  women. All women of
the community are welcome and encouraged to join us.

The aged women likewise, that [they be]
in behaviour of holiness, not false
accusers, not given to much wine,
teachers of good things;

That they may teach the young women
to be sober, to love their husbands, to
love their children,  discreet, chaste,
keepers at home, good, obedient to
their own husbands, that the word of
God be not blasphemed.
